Principal Lean – VDC/BIM
Cousins has established and directed BIM – Virtual Design and Lean Construction for Architects and several top 100 general contractors. As a senior leader and coach he has lead project teams to achieve operational excellence, documented savings and efficiencies by using the tools and techniques of the Lean production and product development principles, understanding of human behavior and BIM technology.
His specialty is coaching mentoring high performance project teams using a collaborative approach from project validation through design development and construction. Agile team building strategies focused on the elimination of waste and creating more value for the customers throughout design, product development and construction.
Cousins is a Registered Architect Colorado and a Certified Lean Practitioner. He holds a Master of Architecture from University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor of Arts, Urban Studies from the University of Denver.
Principal Lean – VDC/BIM
Ralf has over twenty-three years of diverse project management experience in Design and Construction both in Europe and the US.
As a Project Director, he has practiced non-traditional relationship focused and value driven management principles and practices. He has over ten years of management experience participating as the VDC/BIM Integration manager on several of the most ground breaking Integrated project delivery (IPD) – Cathedral Hill Hospital and San Francisco Airport Terminal 1. On these projects, he was responsible was to implement Lean and BIM processes, manage design coordination and deliver BIM guidelines and standards practices. He is an industry thought leader in integrating Lean and BIM large capital projects. He has written, presented and published academic papers on Lean, BIM and structural glazing and materials engineering. He also has successful and diverse traditional experience, from conception through construction, high-rises, pharmaceutical labs, Universities & academia, theme parks and large industrial projects, airports & hospitals.
Ralf-Uwe has Masters of Science in International Construction Management, University of Bath, England; Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, University for Applied Sciences in Munich, Germany.
